Kan Hung-Ju
Born 1993, Taiwan
Lives and works in New York, USA
Kan Hung-Ju’s paintings, throughout a long-term experience of spanning disparate geographies and cultures, has evolved into an act of “visual way-finding” that drifts between memory and emotion. Eschewing concrete narratives, he utilises abstract, layered, and dissolving brushstrokes to construct private psychological spaces on canvas. The emotions within his work remain latent within the breath of colour blocks and gestures, appearing as fragments from the depths of memory that emerge, blurred yet profound, within the present moment.
