Mircea Teleaga
Born 1989, Romania
Lives and works in London, UK
Mircea Teleagă (b. 1989, Rădăuți, Romania) is a painter who lives and works in London. He earned his MFA in Painting from the Slade School of Fine Art, UCL in 2016, where he was awarded the Sarabande Lee Alexander McQueen Scholarship, selected by Dinos Chapman.
Teleagă's practice has developed into a tool for exploring and understanding the surrounding world. His paintings are intricate and enigmatic while often negotiating personal histories, our relationship with memory and meaning. Mood is a heavily emphasised element in the paintings as they call to meditation and introspection. While addressing issues of built and natural contemporary landscape, the images slip out of reality into dream. His recent exploration of an interior-exterior melange creates unique, timeless spaces which glow with an inner warmth. These paintings testify to the alchemical importance which Teleagă gives to the medium of paint.
His work has been shown internationally, with recent solo exhibitions at Theo Gallery, Seoul, and Unit 1 Gallery Workshop, London and can be found in collections worldwide including Kolon, South Korea, Sarabande Foundation London, Soho House Amsterdam and Paris, and others. In 2025 Teleagă has been awarded the Elizabeth Greenshields Foundation Grant.
